Hickory Valley was originally built in 1968 and was then known as Chukker Valley Golf Club. In 1994 an additional 120 acres of adjoining property was purchased from a neighboring nursery. Plans were made for an additional 9 holes carved out of the existing nursery. Construction began in early 1995 and the additional holes gave Hickory Valley 36 holes of golfing pleasure. Eighteen of the original holes were renamed Ambassador Course and the new nine holes coupled with the last nine holes was renamed the Presidential Course which opened for play in June 1996.
